Cabstar Best Practice

Professional tips to extend the life of your Nissan Cabstar.

The ZD30 Engine Rule

If your Cabstar has the 3.0L ZD30 engine, oil quality is everything. We recommend changing the oil every 6,000 miles rather than the standard 12,000 to prevent turbo and timing chain wear. Always use high-quality 5W-30 or 10W-40 fully synthetic oil.

Fuel System Care

Nissan Cabstars are sensitive to fuel contaminants. Replace your fuel filter at every full service. If you notice a "hunting" idle or sudden loss of power, it’s often the Suction Control Valve (SCV) on the fuel pump—getting this diagnosed early saves a costly pump replacement.

Payload & Suspension

While the Cabstar is a workhorse, consistently running at maximum payload stresses the rear leaf springs and shackle bushes. Grease your grease points (if applicable to your model year) every six months to prevent the suspension from becoming brittle and noisy.
